GlobalHack VII Youth Design Challenge

Use tech to make a difference

The GlobalHack VII Youth Design Challenge allows students ages 13 to 18 to gain tech experience and skills by creating a software solution to a real-world problem. Students take part in this beginner friendly, one-day design challenge on Saturday, October 13. No prior coding experience is necessary—student teams (up to 5 students per team) will use Google slides or other ‘wireframing’ tools to build their innovative solution. Through this collaborative experience, students work together to build an app that addresses a relevant social issue, and works towards change. They will explore the software industry by experiencing what it’s like to work on a different project team, within a variety of unique roles.

Held in the concourse of Chaifetz Arena, participants will have a chance to tour the GlobalHack VII competition and experience the thrill of fast-paced software creation. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks will be provided.

Event FAQ

What is the difference between the Youth Design Challenge and the youth division at GlobalHack VII?

The GlobalHack VII Youth Design Challenge is a one-day design challenge and focuses on taking an concept from an idea to a wireframe or app design without any coding knowledge. If your student is comfortable with coding (or has participated in a hackathon before), they should consider signing up for GlobalHack VII and entering the youth division.
