Wordtune vs. Grammarly: Which writing tool is worth your time and money? Let's see!

A good writing assistant is essential for any writer. This allows you to review your work for errors in grammar, readability, or plagiarism.

Grammarly has been my favorite tool since I began my freelance writing career. It was always difficult to spot errors while proofreading. Grammarly allows me to rest easy knowing my content is error-free.

Grammarly does not offer a rewriting option. Wordtune was a new feature that I discovered. It promises to make sentences easier-to-understand.

This Wordtune vs. Grammarly Comparison will compare each tool and let you decide which one is better.

Who Is Wordtune For?

In 2018, Yoav Shoham and Ori Goshen founded Wordtune. Wordtune is currently owned by AI21 Labs. Their mission is to revolutionize how people read and write. They use natural language processing to rewrite difficult-to-understand sentences.

Wordtune is different from other rewriting softwares because of this. They not only review your writing for grammar and spelling issues but also rewrite your sentences to help you express your thoughts.

Wordtune is an affordable alternative to Grammarly’s writing assistant. Wordtune is an affordable alternative to Grammarly's writing assistant. I have used it to rewrite content several times:

  • Website publishers
  • Content marketers
  • Students

Website Publishers

Wordtune is great for publishing content to your website. Wordtune, for example, helps you to create blog posts that are well-written.

Once you are done writing, copy it and paste it into Wordtune. You can also make grammar and spelling corrections from here. Click on any sentence that you find difficult to read and Wordtune will show you several rewriting options.

Content marketers

Content marketers must communicate the value of their product to customers in a way that is easy to comprehend. This is especially important if your product sells technical products.

Wordtune allows you to paste blog content directly into the browser extension. It will detect difficult-to-read sentences.

Students

Readability is a major factor in grading student assignments. It is important that your essay be simple to read. This requires multiple rounds of editing.

This can be tiresome especially if you have a deadline to meet. Wordtune makes it easy to spot wordy sentences and quickly rewrite them.

Wordtune will immediately improve your grades as your assignments are more accurate. Wordtune is more affordable than Grammarly which can be very helpful for students on a tight budget.

Who is Grammarly for?

Dmytro Lieder, Max Lytvyn and Alex Shevchenko wanted to make it easier for people to communicate without having to spend hours studying grammar rules. Grammarly is a grammar checker that can be used on Android, iOS, iOS and Windows.

Grammarly is easy to use and accurate, which sets it apart from other spell-checkers. Grammarly identifies mistakes in articles that I have copied from Grammarly after multiple rounds of editing.

Grammarly can have a positive impact on the lives of:

  • Owners of businesses
  • Freelance writers who are professionals
  • Authors
  • Business owners

Grammarly is an essential tool for business owners who have a few employees.

There is no need to purchase a premium plan for every employee. Grammarly can create a plan just for you. This is much more affordable than an individual account.

Let's suppose your sales team makes small errors when closing deals. This could seem unprofessional. Your conversion rates could drop, which is the worst case scenario. Grammarly Business ensures that your potential customers receive professional emails.

Professional freelance writers and bloggers

Even after watching countless online videos, I was unable to translate my ideas into engaging blogs or social media posts when I began my writing career.

This is because I didn't receive any feedback about my work. This meant that I didn't know if I was doing it right or wrong.

After seeing the Grammarly advertisement and giving it a try, my writing skills improved immediately. I learned how to structure sentences correctly, avoid passive voice, and many other writing skills.

Grammarly will show you what is wrong with your writing and give you suggestions for improvement. Professional feedback is essential for freelance writers, especially if your career is just beginning.

Authors

Writing is a creative job. It can be difficult to edit after you have finished writing because your brain is still in creative mode and you need to be more analytical.

It can be sent to a professional editor. They will catch all errors and point out inconsistencies.

However, you don't want them spending time correcting spelling and grammar mistakes. Instead, use Grammarly to paste your work first. Grammarly will catch the majority of spelling errors so that your editor can concentrate on more serious problems.

Let's now see how Grammarly and Wordtune compare.

Easy To Use

Grammarly was a great tool that I discovered when I began my freelance career. Grammarly isn't like other proofreaders that require you to learn the interface.

Grammarly Google Chrome extension allows you to perform grammar checks in Google Docs or LinkedIn. This reduces the time it takes to edit.

Let's suppose you need to send an email message to your boss or colleague. Grammarly allows you to type directly into Gmail. Grammarly also suggests editing on the fly.

You don't need to go through all the hoops if you prefer to copy and paste your work into the software. You can simply go to Grammarly's website, or use the desktop app. Once you have copied and pasted your content, all suggestions will be displayed on the right.

In the upper right corner, you'll also see a content score. This will give you an idea of the quality of your article and any errors.

Wordtune caught my attention too, as the interface is very similar to Grammarly. It is easy to use. All you have to do to get started is to copy and paste the content you wish to rewrite.

Accuracy

Both Grammarly and Wordtune are accurate, but in different ways. Grammarly is primarily concerned with correcting spelling and grammar. This is a good job, as it can spot most errors. Grammarly makes very few mistakes.

Grammarly found 15 issues with my article covering Salman Rushdie's Masterclass.

Grammarly did not make any mistakes in editing this article. This is a good thing if your online editor is prone to making irrelevant changes.

Grammarly Premium can also suggest sentences that are difficult to read. Grammarly Premium removes redundant words to make the sentence more readable.

Wordtune allows you to paste your writing and it will suggest alternative ways of writing your content. It uses artificial intelligence, similar to Grammarly, to make sure that the suggestions are clearer than the original. Although this is not always the case, it does offer better word choices by using synonyms.

These are some of the suggestions Wordtune made when I copied a text piece into Wordtune.

These suggestions are simple and easy to follow. If I need to rewrite something but don't have any ideas, I can simply copy it into Wordtune. Rewriting takes only a few seconds and the suggestions aren't robotic.

Pricing

A tool that is accurate and affordable is important if you are on a tight budget. Grammarly Premium is a great tool. I have used it since the beginning of my career and barely made any money. It's also very affordable. Wordtune is cheaper than Grammarly.

When signing up for Wordtune’s premium version, you’ll get two options:

  • A monthly plan which costs $9.99 per month
  • An annual plan costing $119.88 per year

With Grammarly, you get three payment plans:

  • A monthly plan costing $29.95 per month
  • A quarterly plan which costs $59.95 every three months
  • An annual plan costing $139 per year

Although Grammarly is affordable even if you’re on a budget, Wordtune is far cheaper.

Features

When investing in a proofreader, you want to access additional features to help you on your writing journey. Luckily, when I signed up for Wordtune and Grammarly, I discovered an array of different features. Some of these features include:

  • Wordtune offers tone adjustments
  • Grammarly provides a professional editor

Wordtune Offers Real-Time Tone Adjustments

Wordtune will not rewrite an article you are writing as a college assignment.

This is true even if you are writing a casual blog article. Wordtune won't turn your blog post into an article filled with jargon or formal terms.

Wordtune's tone adjusters are very helpful here. Wordtune will rewrite your content based on the way you have copied it. You can choose to make your text formal, casual, neutral, informal or formal.

Grammarly offers a professional editor

Grammarly's professional editor option can be a lifesaver if you are having trouble meeting deadlines. Once you have pasted your work into Grammarly you will see an icon at the bottom right that allows you to hire a professional editor.

The editor can also be told what you want them to concentrate on. You might tell the editor that you want them to focus on style and clarity.

Winner: Grammarly

Improvements

Both Grammarly and Wordtune are useful tools for freelance writers, business owners, students, and other professionals. However, both tools have their limitations. These are the areas they should be focusing on:

  • Wordtune puts more emphasis on grammar and spelling
  • Grammarly should be able to accommodate other languages

Spell checks can be more emphasised by Wordtune

Wordtune's main goal is to make sentences clearer and more understandable. But, I would like to see Wordtune place more emphasis on spelling and grammar mistakes.

Wordtune will not catch obvious grammar errors in articles I copy. You might also consider Whitesmoke, ProWritingAid or Ginger if you are looking for a grammar-focused tool.

Grammarly should be compatible with other languages

Grammarly is not suitable for content written in languages other than English or French. Grammarly can only correct writing in American, British and Canadian English. Microsoft Editor is a good choice if you are looking for a tool that can be used in other languages.

Final Word on Wordtune Vs. Grammarly

Every writer, student, and business owner needs a reliable and accurate writing partner. This allows you and your team members to spot mistakes before the work is published or sent out to clients.

If you are looking for a more advanced tool to check your writing for style and grammar, Grammarly is the best choice. Wordtune is a cheaper copyediting tool.
